Earnest Ice Cream February 26 2014, 0 Comments
We spent this past weekend in Vancouver, BC. We love the city. It's clean, green, and so beautiful in many ways. Although it's been snowing, it didn't stop us from trying the famous Earnest Ice Cream. After all, what's better than ice cream by the fireplace in a snowy day?
Launched in 2012, Earnest Ice Cream brings local and sustainable scoops of yumminess to Vancouver with flavors that highlight produce of the local farms. If you pack a pint home (trust us, a scoop is NOT enough), it's packaged in reusable glass jar. We appreciate the philosophy behind Earnest. Moreover, we LOVE its whisky hazelnut ice cream!
If you ever go to Vancouver, don't forget to stop by Earnest Ice Cream:

New Home December 16 2013, 0 Comments
It's been almost a year since we posted our first blog. So many wonderful things have happened in 2013- We launched our dream online store, created Hostess Box by Bison & Lamb, and met so many talented people along the way. Just when we thought nothing more exciting can possibly take place before the year ends, we found out that one of us had the opportunity to move to Seattle! She is happy as a clam to be back to the North West after 3 years in LA. So-Cal has been wonderful, but it's hard to replace having four seasons.
We can't wait to explore the city more and tell you all about it! Now that esselle is in both San Francisco and Seattle, we feel like we can bring you even more of what we love, more of what's esselle.
Stay warm out there!

Thanksgiving is coming! (Christmas will have to wait) November 12 2013, 0 Comments
We've been hearing a lot of people gasping about seeing Christmas decor being set up in major stores while Thanksgiving hasn't even arrived!
We feel ya!
Thanksgiving is big in the esselle family, and we can't wait to gather all our love ones to celebrate this festive holiday!
Here is what we have in mind for this year's Thanksgiving entertaining...
We're definitely covered in this area with esselle's Bella Hostess Box! Our ready-made, and reusable table setting kit (which caters to 6 or 10 guests) will help save time in searching for decor and allows us to focus on tackling that giant turkey. We all know that another big part of throwing dinner parties is the table set up. Hostess Boxes are designed with busy modern hostess in mind :)...No more hours of strategizing which stores to hit while planning the entire dinner menu!
Remember those cinnamon sticks you have tied to your napkins from Bella Hostess Box? Well, what's the use for those sticks if they can't be functional, too? Don't worry, we had a reason. Holiday cocktails choices are plenty and many are infused with cinnamon! So, we picked a couple cocktails that would pair great with your...sticks!
Main & Side Dishes
Every year we try to go outside our comfort zone and try something different. This recipe of Martha's caught our eyes. We can already smell the beautiful aroma of rosemary and lemon in the air :)
Nothing speaks more fall and festive than root vegetables. This recipe looks super easy and yummy! We love the color combination of all the radishes!
You can't call it a Thanksgiving without brussels sprouts. Don't like brussels sprouts? How about brown sugar and bacon? Try this and we guarantee you will start craving for brussels sprouts :)
Mouth Watering Desserts
We've been following this young (but super amazing) food blog for some time, and we cannot get over how perfect each plate looks (and tastes!) Be the judge yourselves and let us know how much you love The Gouda Life!
We especially are eyeing this recipe, Blue plum skillet cake ....Doesn't it look absolutely delish?
One word. Chai. There are many kinds of blends that can be found online, but we like this homemade chai concentrate in particular! Why? Because Tasty Yummies had me at coconut sugar, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, ginger, orange zest, raw honey....and the list goes on. There are so many ingredients that goes into this recipe that makes our heart burst. We cannot wait to try this! And not only that, her idea in packing the concentrate into mason jars(which can be served as gifts for guests to take home) is brilliant! Definitely a very happy thanksgiving indeed.
Let us know what you are planning for this Thanksgiving!

Behind the Scenes October 16 2013, 0 Comments
Phew~ it's Wednesday and we finally have time to sit down and share our crazy/ busy/ fun weekend with you.
First of all, we had yet another epic weekend getaway in Napa (which we definitely will have to write another blog to share our new finds). Then on Monday we had our second photo shoot with our Holiday Hostess Box- Bella!
It took us weeks and a long to-do list to pull this photo shoot together. Thanks to our friend Ted at Steins Beer Garden kindly let us use the outdoor patio, we were able to find an outdoor table long enough for 10 people. We also made some pretty awesome gold and white paper backdrop to go with the festive scheme!
We can't wait to show you the final product this coming weekend! Also stay tuned for a Holiday table setting style guide from esselle!

Abbot Kinney Blvd. September 16 2013, 0 Comments
We strolled down Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice Beach a few weeks ago and saw this dreamy house with beautiful painted front door and wild, vibrant flower covering the fence.
This is why we love Abbot Kinney- every step there is a picture-perfect vignette. Not to mention the endless cool shops and yummy restaurants that we wish we had a bigger stomach to try them all.
Here are some spots you must check out if you go to Abbot Kinney:
Tortoise General Store - We feel instantly transferred from LA to Japan the moment we stepped int Tortoise General Store. We appreciate all Japanese made home goods such as this Kalita Copper Drip Kettle.
Aesop - New to Abbot Kinney neighborhood. We were first introduced to Aesop many years ago when we visited abroad. We love the plant-based beauty products of this Austrian born brand, and always wish they come to West Coast. Now that they are here, you will have to go experience it yourself!
TOMS - Everyone loves these comfortable shoes with good cause. TOMS opened its flagship store on Abbot Kinney recently. Now you can try on new shoes while sipping yummy soy latte. Not to mention its dog-friendly backyard. We can see ourselves hanging out there all day :).
A Thankful Tuesday... September 10 2013, 0 Comments
THIS POST HAS BEEN WAY OVER DUE! (We're so sorry!!)
It has been such an amazing journey seeing our store come to live! We had our first photo shoot early in June, and were so fortunate to work with some very talented individuals. We want to take a moment to thank a few AMAZING friends for helping us get here!
Caroline Winata, owner and photographer of Milou And Olin Photography and Giggle and Riot Funbooths have been truly spectacular in making our vision come to life. Pictures of our Hostess Box are captured beautifully! And not to mention risking her life all for sake of a pretty shot :)...Thank you Caroline!
Mary Phan, owner and wedding planner of Verry Merry Events is purely a doll. She was our go-to consultant on helping us get the perfect tablescape shot, and our "calligrapher" for all of our place cards. We love you Mary!
Last but not least, we want to thank the sweet and bubbly Amanda O'Shannessy of One True Love Vintage and Amanda O'Shannessy Creative for providing us her gorgeous vintage pieces for the shoot! We were swooning over them! She often has styling workshops (that gets sold out!!), so make sure to check them out to learn more about prop styling.
Can't wait to do this all over again! :)
